First off, I have to start by saying I don’t like being comfortable. If everything is perfectly in place and routine I tend to get antsy and want to make a change. This life we live isn’t, in my opinion, meant to be predictable, tame, routine, or easy.
I chose to pursue film and photography because I want to be out experiencing the struggle, hardship, triumph, joy, sadness, adventure, love, passion and raw emotion that comes from putting yourself out there, from taking chances and from being places that make you unsure. The pursuit of life, and I mean real life, is fascinating and inspiring. It makes me want to do more to be like my heroes and see the things that those content to live in the comfortable life only look at in photographs as they scroll through their instagram feeds. I get much more happiness and satisfaction from BEING that instagram feed and, hopefully in the process, being the inspiration for others to step outside, from the weekend warriors to the kids growing up that want to follow the same path. I’m not content to be a consumer. We were given creative minds and I intend to use mine to produce.
So no, I don’t like being comfortable. No one ever had their breath taken away or felt butterflies in their stomach or were truly captivated because they were comfortable. I’m going to live my life on the edge, taking risks because that’s when I truly feel happy and like I’m finally who I was meant to be.
